Problem we solved
IVY was established to empower students to unlock their full potential and secure admission to Ivy League colleges. The program pairs students with Ivy League mentors who provide focused guidance on the critical steps needed to achieve their academic goals.
However, the rigorous process can sometimes overwhelm students, causing them to lose motivation and dedication. To address this, IVY envisioned a system that enables students to track their progress and achievements effectively. This system allows students to revisit their milestones, reignite their motivation, and stay aligned with their personalized roadmap to success.
Major Challenges
- Creating a grouped and structured format of the course program.
- Create a sense of achievement and progress in the students.
- An intuitive UI that simplifies progress tracking, making it effortless and enjoyable rather than a tedious task.
- A collaborative environment for student and mentor, where all their progress is stored in an organised manner.
Process
Design
After thoroughly analyzing all aspects of the program and course, we identified a few key points
- The 1:1 mentorship system is disorganized, with floating notes and comments often getting lost.
- Students struggle to keep track of newly added tasks.
- Progress tracking was a vital part of the program. Differentiating between task done and achievements was a major thing to address.
This highlighted the need for a well-structured collaborative space to consolidate these scattered elements into a single, organized platform.
Group Categories
With the entire course structured at the outset based on the student's academic year, we organized the program into multiple categories to simplify the creation of modules. Using UX flows and information architecture (IA), these modules were further subdivided into groups, enabling students to break down their progress and achievements into clearly defined categories.
Progress Tracker
We designed a highly interactive progress tracker with multiple layers, allowing users to zoom in and out based on their academic year. This added a new level of depth and clarity. The entire roadmap was integrated into this tracker, enabling students to monitor their tasks and revisit it anytime to reflect on their achievements.
Collaborative Space
After observing how certain tasks were being carried out, we created an open, flexible space designed as a blank canvas. This allows users to type, paste, or comment freely in any format. It ensures that all tasks performed by students and mentors can be managed in one place. With access to shared links, resources, and images, this space evolved into an organized, centralized folder for every task.

IVY’s mission is to offer personalized 1:1 guidance on college preparation, applications, and essays by combining expert Stanford coaches, tailored game plans, and custom tools to achieve Ivy League-level results.
With IVY, our goal was to provide students with a highly seamless UX and UI experience. Despite the complex UX flows and navigation, IVY delivered a highly intuitive and accessible interface for its users. Every step of the process was designed with the student in mind, ensuring ease of use while providing powerful features to track progress and improve outcomes. The result is a platform that empowers students to navigate their college journey with confidence and clarity.
